Job summary

Pen Bay Hospital in Maine is seeking an Emergency Department Technician II for per diem shifts to support the healthcare team with stocking, patient tracking, and basic care under the RN.

Responsibilities include measuring vital signs, pulse oximetry, EKG, phlebotomy, orientation of new staff and students, and educational offerings; requires EMT or MA/CNA certs, BLS, and 6+ months ED Tech experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • EMT-Advanced, EMT-Basic, Medical Assistant, or CNA certification required; BLS must be current or obtained within 30 days of start date.
  • Six or more months of Emergency Department Technician experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with organizing and implementing basic department activities (stocking, results retrieval, patient tracking).
  • Under RN guidance, perform patient care such as vital signs, pulse oximetry, EKG, phlebotomy and other simple procedures.
  • Orient new team members and students; provide educational offerings in unit.

This is a per diem role. Shifts will vary.

Summary

The Emergency Department Technician II role assists the healthcare team in organizing and implementing basic department activities such as stocking, results retrieval and patient tracking. Under the guidance of the registered nurse, this role will perform patient care such as vital signs, pulse oximetry, EKG, phlebotomy and other simple procedures. Orients new team members and students and provides educational offerings in unit.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education: High school graduate or GED preferred.
  • License/Certifications: EMT-Advanced, EMT-Basic,Medical Assistant,or CNA certification required. Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
  • Experience: Six (6)+ months of experience as an Emergency Department Technician.

The pay range for this position is $21.09to $27.12 per hour.

Compensation for part-time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
