Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) is hiring an Emergency Department Technician for the Adult ED. The role supports RN-directed care, performs routine patient care tasks, and helps maintain a safe, clean ED environment.

Schedule is 36 hours with nights, weekends and holidays. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, BLS/CPR certification, and ability to pass competency testing; nursing students or EMTs are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED certificate.
• Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment)
• Ability to pass clinical competency testing
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
• Fluency in another language a plus
• Previous medical/surgical experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of delegated patient care interventions for patients in the ED and their families.
• Clinical services could include: obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and emotional support.
• Perform environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the ED.
• Contribute to the efficient operation of the ED, ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.
