Job summary

Vanderbilt Health in Nashville, TN, is seeking an ED Registration specialist to manage onsite registration, arrival processes, discharge and insurance validation for Emergency Department patients.

You will ensure accurate data entry into Epic, create patient estimates, discuss payment plans at discharge, and support patients and families under emotional stress with strong interpersonal skills, while collaborating with ED staff. Adherence to confidentiality and compliance standards is required.

Qualifications

• Responsible for onsite registration, arrival processes and discharge and insurance validation for ED patients.
• Requires ability to remain calm and composed under stress; strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience with electronic medical record systems (Epic) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs all assigned area functions per departmental guidelines.
• Performs administrative functions to ensure the department operates according to policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Ensures patient information is entered accurately and timely into Epic.
• Create patient estimates, request payment and provide payment plan information at discharge.
• ED staff interact with patients and families under emotional stress; requires empathy and professionalism.
• Trained in emergency procedures in addition to standard registration training.
• Additional duties may be assigned.
