Job summary

Covenant Health in Morristown, TN is seeking an ED Patient Registration Specialist (PRN/OCC) to support rapid, accurate registration for emergency encounters. This on-site role requires insurance verification, demographics capture, and cash handling while ensuring EMTALA compliance.

You'll work with front desk staff, triage nurses, and the cashier to keep patient flow smooth in a busy 24/7 environment. Prior customer service experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months customer-facing experience.
• Basic computer skills required.
• High school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs quick registration for Emergency Department encounters.
• Coordinates front desk patient flow and notifies triage/charge nurse of urgent cases.
• Accurately completes full registration with demographics and financial info per EMTALA.
• Collects co-payments/deposits and delivers receipts to cashier for posting.
• Uses electronic signature system for registrations and explains consent, directives, and forms.
• Maintains ED registration status using the tracking board and reports as needed.
