Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking an ED Patient Access Rep to ensure accurate registration and billing information for Emergency Department patients. You will support ED staff in central and pod/treatment areas, handling patient data, insurance verification, and questions about admission.

This part-time role requires strong customer service, data entry speed, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment. Weekend shifts and collaboration with Admitting are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0-2 years hospital registration experience or 3 years customer service experience preferred.
• Bilingual candidates and healthcare experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
• Ensures data integrity for patient demographics, insurance and admission information.
• Verifies patient insurance and applies payer guidelines to help ensure reimbursement.
• Covers in Admitting or Emergency Department as needed and participates in holiday coverage rotation.
• Documents accurate information on all patient accounts to ensure workflow efficiency.
• Communicates effectively with patients and staff, resolving issues and assisting with registration and insurance questions.
