Job summary

Wellstar Health System, Inc. seeks an experienced Emergency Department nurse to lead shift operations in the night cycle.

You will oversee staffing, patient flow, and care delivery for adult, pediatric, fast track, triage, and behavioral health patients, ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality care while coordinating with hospital departments. You will implement standards of practice, monitor regulatory compliance, and contribute to performance improvement and patient satisfaction metrics.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma required; Bachelors preferred.
• All required certifications must be obtained upon hire.
• Minimum 3 years healthcare experience required.
• Strong interpersonal, critical thinking and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Constantly rounding throughout the Emergency Department triage area, waiting rooms, and patient rooms to oversee patient flow and act as liaison among ED staff and other departments.
• Organize the work environment and patient care teams to maximize unit outcomes and ensure efficient throughput.
• Supervise patient placement and flow through the ED with clear leadership and prioritization.
• Provide regular feedback on throughput and patient flow to ED teams via huddles, debriefings, and reports.
• Participate in performance improvement projects and committees to improve care delivery, safety, and patient experience.
• Lead staff development and ensure adherence to regulatory standards and department policies.
