The role focuses on collecting patient demographics and financial information, updating the EMR, verifying insurance, and coordinating transfers while maintaining composure under pressure.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma and 1–2 years of experience, with strong communication skills and a clear understanding of HIPAA and EMTALA requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 1–2 years of working experience in healthcare or ED setting preferred.
• Experience with patient registration and insurance verification is a plus.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and EMTALA is essential.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients or their representatives to collect demographic and financial data.
• Assist patients with completing registration forms.
• Update and maintain accurate EMR records.
• Verify health insurance and copay/eligibility information.
• Coordinate ambulance transfers and assemble transfer documentation.
• Facilitate communication between ED staff and other departments.
• Attend required ongoing education and staff meetings.
