LCMC Health in Louisiana seeks a Patient Access Representative in the Emergency Department to greet patients, register and admit for services, verify insurance, and coordinate with clinical teams. You will explain financial responsibilities, collect payments when appropriate, and connect patients to financial assistance.

This role requires empathy, accuracy, teamwork, and the ability to stay calm in high-pressure moments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (or 2 years of applicable experience in lieu of education).
• 2 years of customer service and/or healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients and families in person and by phone
• Register and admit patients for emergency, walk-in, and non-scheduled services
• Create or activate patient accounts and enter accurate demographic and insurance information
• Verify insurance eligibility and scan required documents
• Support bed placement, transfers, and discharges in collaboration with clinical teams
• Explain financial responsibility, collect payments when appropriate, and connect patients to financial assistance
• Coordinate with case management and providers to ensure proper patient placement
• Provide directions and guidance throughout the hospital as needed
