Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. seeks a Manager of the Emergency Department to lead daily ED operations, nursing care delivery, and staff management with a focus on excellent patient care, quality outcomes, and employee engagement.

The role collaborates with leadership and interdisciplinary teams to ensure regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and achievement of goals in quality, safety, growth, and financial performance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required
• Bachelor's degree or higher preferred
• 2-4 years of experience in a closely related field required
• 2-4 years of previous leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily operations of the Emergency Department, ensuring efficient patient flow, optimal resource utilization, and delivery of safe, high-quality, and compassionate care.
• Supervises and evaluates nursing and support staff, ensuring compliance with clinical standards, hospital policies, and professional practice guidelines.
• Collaborates with the Director and interdisciplinary teams to establish and achieve departmental goals related to quality, safety, patient experience, and operational performance.
• Collaborates with physicians, ancillary departments, and hospital leadership to coordinate patient throughput, optimize bed management, and reduce delays in care.
• Responds promptly to emergencies, patient concerns, or staffing issues, exercising sound judgment and leadership under pressure.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
