Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen
• High School Diploma/GED (Must be 18 years of age or older)
• Five years emergency dispatcher experience or five years law enforcement related experience with three years telecommunications experience
• TCOLE Advanced or Master Telecommunications Operator Certification; knowledge of TLETS; 911 operations; working knowledge of DOS, Windows, PC hardware and RS 6000 AIX devices
• Strong computer written and verbal communication skills; criti-call test; data-entry/dispatch test score 3500 KPH+; 35 wpm typing
• Ability to prioritize work; strong interpersonal skills; supervision and leadership experience

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, and enforce operational policies and procedures for the Emergency Communications Center.
• Serve as liaison and represent the Communications Center in contacts with the public and emergency personnel; maintain cooperative relationships.
• Supervise and evaluate 911 staff; provide feedback to ensure quality service and compliance with laws and guidelines.
• Schedule personnel and ensure shifts are adequately staffed.
• Identify and respond to developing situations coordinating with other agencies.
• Operate CAD and related systems and handle data entry in TCIC/NCIC and county systems.
• Work overtime as needed; participate in emergency management duties.
