Job summary

PHI Health is seeking a Communications Specialist in Lexington, KY, to support air medical transport operations with a focus on information assimilation, radio communications, and patient data handling. You will collaborate with pilots, medics, and administrative staff to ensure timely, safe transports.

Responsibilities include handling transport requests, coordinating with facilities nationwide, and participating in billing preps and customer service activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• EMS/air medical communications experience preferred.
• Experience in public relations, customer service, marketing or sales and/or healthcare billing and insurance preferred.
• Medical terminology preferred.
• Must be computer literate and have a good working knowledge of Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assimilate information to make quality decisions across transport requests and radio communications.
• Maintain effective communication with crew and aircraft; perform flight following per FAA/PHI policies.
• Document detailed medical information and coordinate transport logistics nationally and internationally.
• Input flight and ground transport data into the network database per FAA Part 135 rules.
• Foster relationships with referring and receiving facilities and pre-hospital agencies to ensure coordinated response.
• Notify administration or agencies in incidents per policies.
• Attend staff and continuing education meetings.
• Handle quote requests for long-distance transports and educate callers on services.
• Assist with front-end billing and follow-up with Patient Financial Services.
• Perform outbound follow-up calls and manage transplant patient files.
• Other duties as required.
