Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Pennsylvania State Police seeks a Police Communications Operator to support public safety by relaying information between callers and troopers. The role involves call intake, incident dispatch, record management, and assisting the public at the station.

Rotating shifts, full-time schedule (40 hours/week) with no telework option; candidates must meet minimum experience and training requirements and obtain required certifications during probation.

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: two years of experience using two-way radio, multi-line telephone, or computer aided dispatch systems; two years using computer systems for entering/updating/retrieving information; completion of 60 college credits; an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Call Intake: Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and gather essential details from callers
• Incident Dispatch: Relay information to troopers, determine priorities, request assistance from outside agencies
• Record Management: Use CLEAN and JNET, and other systems to access, research, and maintain electronic records
• Public Assistance: Respond to inquiries from the public and assist visitors at the station
• Training Support: Participate in communications training and help instruct new operators on procedures
• General Duties: Perform additional responsibilities, including assigned tasks during emergency activations
