Job summary

Excelsior Ambulance Service Inc in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Communications Specialist/Dispatcher for our 24/7 EMS operations. The role requires handling emergency and non-emergency dispatch, delivering exceptional customer service, and maintaining composure in fast-paced environments.

You will coordinate with healthcare providers, facilities, and field personnel, enter requests into CAD, and ensure timely, accurate communications to support rapid response and efficient service delivery.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of one year EMS or public safety dispatching experience or equivalent telecommunications experience.
Strong English reading and writing skills.
Excellent customer service and professional communication.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient typing and data-entry skills.
Experience using two-way radio systems.
Familiarity with dispatch software and computers.

Responsibilities

Provide exceptional customer service during every interaction with healthcare providers, facilities, patients, field personnel, coworkers, and other customers.
Monitor and respond promptly to telephone calls, radio traffic, emails, and other communications.
Maintain calm professionalism during periods of high call volume, emergency situations, service disruptions, and other unusual or stressful events.
Enter service requests accurately into the CAD system.
Review, schedule, prioritize, and assign transportation requests.
Monitor location, status, and movement of field units.
Document and communicate trip information clearly.
Relay supervisory instructions and critical information promptly.
Maintain knowledge of company policies and dispatch protocols.
