Black Hawk County Consolidated Communications Center in Waterloo, IA, is seeking a dispatcher to operate PBX, radio, and telephone console to receive and dispatch emergency information to law enforcement and medical personnel.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, the ability to type 30 wpm, and strong written and verbal communication. Certification in NCIC/CJIS and Iowa system access must be completed within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum six months related experience preferred.
• Typing 30 wpm with accuracy required.
• Must obtain NCIC/CJIS certification within 6 months and recertify every 2 years.
• Complete CTTraining within 6 months of employment.
• Complete Iowa system certification for full access within 6 months.
• Residency within 30-minute response time from the Consolidated Communications Center within 6 months.
• Must pass background check as per Iowa Code.
• Knowledge/experience with CRT/teletype preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to think quickly and respond in tense situations.
• Ability to read and write English accurately.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsabilités

• Operate PBX, radio, and telephone console to receive and dispatch emergency information.
• Type various forms and reports accurately.
• Maintain log of telephone and radio calls received/transmitted.
• Maintain knowledge of sheriff's office practices and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Supervision is from the Director of the Consolidated Communications Center; no supervision over staff.
• Work indoors in an office setting; frequent use of fingers, hands, and vision; frequent communication with coworkers and the public.
