Job summary

The Public Safety Dispatch Network is seeking qualified 911 Call Takers to join Alexandria, LA operations. You will handle emergency and nonemergency lines, verify locations, and document details for responders.

Successful candidates will work from a centralized communications center, complete required training and background checks, and may work rotating shifts to cover 24/7 operations in support of public safety. Prior customer service experience is helpful.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Customer service or call-center experience helpful.
• Some vacancies accept applicants without dispatch experience.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming emergency calls and assigned nonemergency lines
• Confirm the incident location and caller’s callback information
• Use approved questions to identify the nature and urgency of the situation
• Enter accurate details into call-processing or dispatch software
• Forward incident information promptly to the appropriate dispatch function
• Provide authorized pre-arrival instructions only within training and certification
