Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network seeks a Mental Health Crisis Intervention professional to provide comprehensive crisis services, including intake assessments and admission coordination for patients and families in the Emergency Department or Walk-In Center.

You will collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and other behavioral health staff to determine appropriate care levels, support patient rights, and ensure efficient placement across the network.

Qualifications

• 1 year direct clinical mental health/crisis intervention experience required.
• Experience with case management/utilization review and managed care models preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in a human services field with 2-6 years of equal job experience.
• Master's degree in a human services field; 1-3 years of equal job experience; Master’s preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts intake assessments for patients in the Emergency Department and Walk In Center; makes referral recommendations.
• Interacts with care teams (physicians, advanced practitioners, BH staff) to facilitate referrals and placement.
• Serves as a liaison for other hospital/network sites regarding mental health needs.
• Demonstrates knowledge of Mental Health regulations and admission status (voluntary/involuntary).
• Demonstrates competence in caring for agitated/violent patients and applies de-escalation or restraints as needed.
• Supports utilization management pre-certification for intakes and consults; monitors the therapeutic environment.
