Job summary

The City of Greer is seeking a Telecommunicator for its Police Department. This position handles 911 and non-emergency lines, dispatches to police, fire, and other agencies, and monitors multiple radios and CAD/NCIC systems. Strong communication, calm under pressure, and multitasking are essential.

Responsibilities

• Answers 911, emergency and non-emergency lines to determine type of assistance, location, and urgency.
• Dispatches or transfers calls to fire, police, or other agencies.
• Monitors radios, computer screens and telecommunications equipment.
• Prepares reports and records such as NCIC entries, logs, and daily statistics.
• Refers to manuals, codes, laws and publications for procedures.
• Acknowledges and responds to routine and emergency radio traffic.
• Documents information for each call and processes records and reports.
• Maintains professionalism and customer service in all interactions.
