Job summary

Hendersonville Police Department is seeking a Police Telecommunicator to receive and prioritize emergency and non‑emergency calls, dispatch officers, and maintain communications during incidents. Basic qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and within one year certifications such as General Telecommunicators and CJ leads.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Valid Class C Driver’s License at time of hire.
• General Telecommunicators Certificate or ability to obtain within one year.
• CJ Leads certification or ability to obtain within one year.
• NC DCI 1-3 Certification or ability to obtain within one year.
• eWarrants and CJLEADS training or ability to obtain within one year.
• 100 hours of law enforcement/telecommunicator continuing education.

Responsibilities

• Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and evaluate requests for service.
• Prioritize calls, dispatch police officers, and communicate with responders.
• Operate two-way radio system and relay information as situations unfold.
• Monitor officer activities and provide timely information in field.
• Maintain records for warrants and other required data; log activities.
• Use eWarrants program to check for outstanding warrants and relay results.
• Close calls and update units as they return to service.
• Create morning report from data gathered, distribute to media and administration.
• Stay up to date on call disposition codes and department procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
