Job summary

Sampson County Government is seeking Telecommunicators to join the Emergency Services team. You will answer 911 calls, provide guidance, and dispatch police, fire, and EMS units to protect residents of Sampson County. This is a frontline, fast-paced role requiring calm under pressure.

Rotating 12-hour shifts, nights, holidays, and weekend work are required. Applicants must have NC driver license, relevant certificates, and strong computer and communication skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for service and dispatch tasks for law enforcement, fire, EMS and partners
  • Provide guidance and assistance to the public in emergency situations
  • Assist in dispatching police, fire and EMS personnel and equipment
  • Operate CAD equipment to communicate with response personnel
  • Follow EMD, EFD and EPD protocols to prioritize calls
  • Maintain logs and NCIC entries for law enforcement agencies
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • Rotating 12-hour shifts including nights, holidays and weekends
