Job summary

City of Naperville’s Police Department seeks full-time 911 Telecommunicators to operate in the Emergency Communications Center, receiving and evaluating 911 and non-emergency calls for Police, Fire, EMS and other assistance; triage and prioritize requests for life-saving responses and dispatch appropriate actions.

The position is represented by FOP; wage rates and benefits are governed by the collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work in a high-stress environment.
• Excellent communication and multitasking abilities across multiple systems.
• Availability to work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Receive and evaluate 911 and non-emergency calls for Police, Fire, EMS and other assistance.
• Triage and prioritize requests for service to life-safety situations.
• Dispatch and coordinate appropriate responses to high-risk, high-stress operations.
• Monitor alarms and related systems and maintain contact with response units.
