The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking an Autonomous Systems Firmware Engineer in Laurel, MD. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of embedded systems experience including design, development, integration or testing.
  • Ability to multi-task across projects and work independently in small teams.
  • Willing to work in classified laboratories and locations around the world for 15% of time.
  • Ability to obtain Interim Secret clearance by start date and eventually Top Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded systems from architecture through integration and test for autonomous platforms.
  • Deploy real-time firmware and algorithms on embedded processors, DSPs, FPGAs, and RTOS platforms for sensing, control, navigation, and autonomy.
  • Integrate sensors, actuators, cameras, navigation systems into complete systems.
  • Plan and execute laboratory and field testing, analyze performance, troubleshoot issues, drive design improvements.
  • Document designs, analyses, test results, and present work to review teams.
