Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks an Autonomous Systems Computer Engineer to rapidly develop and field autonomous sensor solutions for challenging environments around the globe.

You will work in teams to create ruggedized sensor systems from concept through fielding, embedding firmware and software to interface with hardware, fuse data, and implement autonomous behaviors.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Experience in embedded systems, autonomous vehicles, or related technologies.
  • Experience in concept generation, analysis, design, prototyping and testing.
  • Ability to multi-task across several projects and work independently in small teams with quick turnaround.
  • Willingness to work in classified laboratories and travel ~15% of time.
  • Ability to interact with team members and leadership; eligibility for DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop ruggedized custom sensor systems from concept to fielding.
  • Interface with hardware; fuse sensor data; develop firmware/software for multiple platforms.
  • Conduct laboratory and field testing to verify requirements.
  • Analyze system performance using modeling and simulation for design support.
  • Identify and integrate parts for rapid development of systems.
  • Document designs, analyses, and test results for team and sponsors.
