Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking an engineer to design, test, and deploy advanced electrical and embedded systems. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and own integration from concept to deployment on national defense and NASA initiatives.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical/Computer Engineering and 2+ years of experience, with opportunities to lead and develop expertise in power electronics, FPGA, and embedded software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in electrical or computer engineering.
  • Experience with design, test, and development of electrical hardware and software.
  • Experience prototyping electronics using microcontrollers, FPGAs, DSPs, sensors, or power electronics.
  • Programming experience in C, C++, Python or similar.
  • Experience with design tools such as Altium or Cadence and simulation tools like SPICE or MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Experience in testing electrical systems with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.
  • Ability to document designs and results; eligible for Interim Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mixed‑signal electronic systems including power electronics and embedded firmware.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to capture requirements and validate designs.
  • Document designs and results for fabrication and operation.
  • Own integration, testing, and deployment of electrical systems on mission‑critical platforms.
  • Contribute to technologies enabling spacecraft, autonomous systems, and national security missions.
