The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks an Autonomous Systems Computer Engineer to help rapidly develop rugged sensor systems for government missions. You will work in teams to define concepts, design embedded firmware, and field prototypes in challenging environments across the globe.

You will contribute to modeling and testing, interface with multiple hardware platforms, and pursue security clearances as required, with travel approximately 15% of the time.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Experience in embedded systems and autonomous technologies.
  • Ability to generate concepts, analyze, design, prototype and test.
  • Willing to work in classified labs and travel ~15%.
  • Ability to multi-task across projects and work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Develop ruggedized sensor systems from concept definition through fielding.
  • Develop and integrate embedded firmware/software for hardware platforms.
  • Conduct laboratory and field testing to verify requirements.
  • Analyze system performance through modeling and simulation.
  • Specify and integrate parts for rapid system development.
  • Document designs and test results for team members and sponsors.
