Job summary

Amazon Leo Satellite Gateway team seeks a Device Software Development Engineer to design and develop embedded software for satellite and ground systems. You will work on fault-tolerant, real-time platforms, collaborating with hardware and product teams to deliver secure, high-performance solutions.

This role focuses on Linux kernel drivers, Yocto/OpenEmbedded build systems, and integration with micro-controllers, targeting Versal and Zynq SoCs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• 3+ years of embedded firmware development experience
• 2+ years of experience with Yocto/OpenEmbedded or a comparable embedded Linux build system

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software in C, C++, and Python, and Linux kernel drivers.
• Write device drivers and system applications for the various satellite systems.
• Write software to interact with micro-controllers.
• Develop and maintain Linux kernel drivers and device-tree overlays for SPI, I3C, I2C, CAN, GPIO, DMA and UIO interfaces.
• Work closely with other software and hardware teams to support board bring-up and integration testing.
• Build and maintain the Yocto/OpenEmbedded distribution: BitBake recipes and layers, A/B partition boot, secure boot, eMMC and NOR storage, and SWUpdate image generation.
• Leverage modern application frameworks for Embedded Linux and bare-metal/AMP platforms to develop scalable, modular, and high-performance software.
• Debug and resolve complex hardware-software integration issues using tools like logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
• Develop kernel features required to support upcoming hardware and software capabilities, targeting AMD/Xilinx Versal and Zynq SoCs.
