Job summary

General Motors in Milford, MI is seeking a Software Engineer to join the VMEC team, focusing on embedded software for HV battery management and vehicle communications. The role supports a hybrid work model with on-site collaboration several days per week.

You will contribute to Dhis mission of Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion by delivering scalable, safe software and diagnostics for GM's EV portfolio. Strong MISRA, C/C++, and embedded skills are required.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering – Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, CS or related field.
• 2+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Strong background in system design, diagnostics strategies, and control systems.
• Proficient in C, C++ programming and Python scripting.
• Experience with SiL/HiL or Vehicle-Level testing frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver embedded software for VMEC Battery Management Systems (BMS).
• Ensure SW deliverables are on time and with quality in support of Wired Battery Management Systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety requirements, government regulations, and MISRA guidelines.
• Apply software engineering principles to create scalable, hardware-agnostic solutions.
• Translate requirements into robust software designs including diagnostics and controller communications.
• Verify software functionality through automated testing, HIL, bench, and vehicle testing.
