Job summary

Everforth Apex is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support embedded and connected product development from concept to validation. This fully onsite role is in Indianapolis, IN, with a Monday–Friday schedule and 9:00 AM–5:00 PM EST.

You will define system requirements, architectures, interfaces, and validation strategies; ensure traceability and verifiability; collaborate with hardware, software, controls, and test teams; and manage requirements with JIRA and Confluence. Pay rate: $60/hr (W2).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Systems Engineering or related field.
• Experience in Systems Engineering and product lifecycle development.
• Experience authoring and managing system-level requirements and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of requirements management, functional decomposition, interface definition, and system integration.
• Experience with engineering tools used for requirements management and technical documentation.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Familiarity with Agile development processes and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in Systems Engineering and product lifecycle development.
• Experience authoring and managing system-level requirements and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of requirements management, functional decomposition, interface definition, and system integration.
• Experience with engineering tools used for requirements management and technical documentation.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Familiarity with Agile development processes and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Familiarity with INCOSE Systems Engineering principles and ISO 15288 standards.
• Knowledge of embedded control systems and communication protocols including CAN, RS-485, BLE, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi.
• Experience supporting connected products, cloud-connected systems, telemetry, or over-the-air (OTA) update frameworks.
• Familiarity with HVAC systems, energy management technologies, smart devices, or other complex electro- mechanical products.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.

Desired Experience

• Systems engineering experience within industries such as HVAC, automotive, aerospace, rail, industrial automation, energy systems, or other complex regulated product environments.
• Experience supporting full product development lifecycles from requirements definition through verification and validation.
• Exposure to connected product ecosystems and modern systems engineering practices.
