Job summary

Axon is seeking a Firmware Validation Engineer I to join the Scottsdale team, focusing on embedded software testing for body‑worn devices and other Axon products. You will own test design, execution, and automation, collaborating with firmware, software, and hardware teams to ensure high‑quality releases.

You will contribute to testing standards, use Jira/Zephyr Scale, Splunk for log analysis, and apply Python scripting within CI/CD pipelines to improve coverage and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in software, firmware, or hardware QA/validation.
• Experience with embedded/connected-device products.
• Hands-on test design, execution, and automation.
• Familiarity with test management and traceability practices (Jira, Zephyr Scale).
• Experience scripting/automation (Python) and CI/CD testing.

Responsibilities

• Execute release regression tests (manual/automated) and exploratory testing.
• Design and maintain test strategies and traceability from requirements to test cases.
• Review dev-authored tests; identify coverage gaps and perform regression testing.
• Investigate defects and participate in bug triage with evidence.
• Lead release-readiness reporting and risk assessment for go/no-go decisions.
• Drive test tooling, dashboards, and new test equipment integrations to increase coverage.
