Job summary

CareerNerds, LLC is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer to join a Central New York manufacturer in North Syracuse, NY. The role focuses on hands-on embedded C development for microcontroller-based systems used in HVAC/R and industrial applications.

The successful candidate will design, debug, and maintain firmware across 8-, 16-, and 32-bit MCUs, collaborate with hardware engineers, and participate in new product development from concept through production.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience writing embedded C firmware for microcontroller-based systems.
Strong understanding of microcontrollers, interrupts, timers, peripherals, and hardware interfaces.
Experience developing and debugging bare-metal embedded firmware.
Ability to troubleshoot interactions between firmware and electronic hardware.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
Experience with new product development is preferred.
HVAC/R controls or industrial electronics experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, debug, and maintain embedded firmware using C.
Develop firmware for 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit microcontrollers.
Create control logic for sensors, switches, relays, motors, and other electronic components.
Collaborate with hardware engineers on product development, integration, and troubleshooting.
Debug hardware and firmware using oscilloscopes, development tools, and laboratory equipment.
Participate in new product development, testing, and validation.
Troubleshoot existing products and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Document code, participate in design reviews, and support products through manufacturing.
