Job summary

The Recruiting Hive is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer to join a Central New York manufacturer in North Syracuse, onsite. You will design, develop, and debug embedded firmware for 8/16/32-bit MCUs in C, collaborating with hardware engineers to move concepts to production.

Ideal candidates have hands-on embedded C experience, know interrupts and peripherals, and can debug bare-metal firmware. HVAC/R or industrial electronics experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience writing embedded C firmware for microcontroller-based systems required.
• Strong understanding of microcontrollers, interrupts, timers, peripherals, and hardware interfaces.
• Experience developing and debugging bare-metal embedded firmware.
• Ability to troubleshoot interactions between firmware and electronic hardware.
• Comfortable explaining previous embedded projects, technical challenges, and solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with new product development is strongly preferred.
• Experience with HVAC/R controls, industrial electronics, or similar products is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, debug, and maintain embedded firmware using C.
• Develop firmware for 8-, 16-, and 32-bit microcontrollers.
• Create control logic for sensors, relays, motors, and other components.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on product development, integration, and troubleshooting.
• Debug hardware and firmware using oscilloscopes, development tools, and laboratory equipment.
• Participate in new product development, testing, and validation.
• Troubleshoot existing products and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Document code, participate in design reviews, and support products through manufacturing.
