Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer II to join enterprise customers and directly design, build, and run AI-powered production systems alongside the customer's engineering team.

You will own delivery from requirements gathering through production deployment, writing production-grade software and coaching others on code quality. The role emphasizes autonomous, end-to-end work across AI-enabled workflows, with travel required (30–50%).

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience working in an Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment.
• Experience communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with agentic and spec-driven development (developing AI agents a plus).
• Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

• Embed within customer engineering teams and translate customer requirements into technical designs for AI-enabled production systems.
• Build production AI applications powering AI and agentic workflows, integrating data sources and existing apps while optimizing latency, reliability, and cost.
• Own production for your workstream across the full software lifecycle, troubleshoot incidents, and implement monitoring and CI/CD for AI systems.
• Mentor and uplift teammates, provide code review feedback, and coach others on high-quality code.
• Accelerate customer adoption by codifying reusable patterns and accelerators for future deployments.
