Job summary

The University of Portland, a Division I NCAA member in Portland, Oregon, invites applications for an Assistant Sports Performance Coach. This role supports athletic performance across varsity teams with year-round coaching and education in strength, speed, and conditioning.

Primary duties include developing training programs, instructing athletes, coordinating testing, and collaborating with sports medicine to prevent injuries. Must hold CSCS or SCCC and have experience at Division I level.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field.
• Required: One year’s experience of directly related club or collegiate Division I experience.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in exercise science or related field.
• Or equivalent education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strength, speed and conditioning programs.
• Instruct individuals and groups in training activities.
• Coordinate performance testing and educational program development.
• Consult with sports medicine staff on injury prevention and nutrition education.
• Maintain safe training environments and effective communication with staff and athletes.
• Support hiring, training, and supervision of student interns as needed.
