Job summary

Barr Transportation is seeking a skilled Fleet Technician in Elkridge, MD to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on our fleet and keep vehicles at peak performance. You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools, conduct DOT inspections, and coordinate with dispatch to minimize downtime while maintaining thorough service records.

Strong attention to detail and safety are essential; ASE certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience as fleet technician, diesel mechanic, or automotive technician.
• Ability to diagnose and repair light, medium, or heavy-duty vehicles.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations and vehicle compliance standards.
• Proficient with diagnostic software and hand/power tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on fleet vehicles
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools
• Conduct DOT inspections and ensure vehicles meet safety and compliance standards
• Complete brake, suspension, steering, and drivetrain repairs
• Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation
• Coordinate with dispatch and operations to minimize vehicle downtime
• Identify and order necessary parts and supplies to complete repairs efficiently
