Job summary

Transdev North America is hiring an Automotive Technician in Elkton, MD to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines across diverse vehicles and equipment. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and vehicle longevity, with hands-on maintenance under moderate supervision.

Responsibilities include repairs, inspections, and diagnostics on heavy‑duty equipment, plus record‑keeping and parts ordering. The position offers a competitive hourly wage and standard benefits, with DOT drug testing

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair (preferred).
• ASE Certification preferred. Must participate in ASE testing program within 1 year (expected to have 3 ASE within 12 months of hire).
• Intermediate mechanical aptitude and 3 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred) or equivalent education and experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• DOT drug testing required; DOT 49 CFR Part 40 compliance is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform limited repairs with moderate supervision on basic and advanced maintenance (bulbs, fuses, lenses, wiper blades, belts, hoses, batteries, fluids, filters).
• Maintain and inspect a variety of heavy‑duty equipment (loaders, landfill packers, excavators, backhoes, morbark, Vermeer grinders).
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools.
• Perform mechanical repairs including brakes, tune‑ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical.
