Job summary

VIP, Inc. is seeking a Flat Rate Technician in Rutland, VT to diagnose and repair automotive systems, perform maintenance, and ensure quality work the first time. The role emphasizes safety, adherence to VIP processes, and customer engagement throughout service.

The technician will complete required LMS training, pursue ASE certifications, and work with service staff to manage work orders and parts. This position requires a strong commitment to safety and continuous learning in a busy shop

Qualifications

Read, analyze, and interpret technical instructions, journal and procedures, or governmental regulations.
Explain vehicle information to customers clearly and answer questions.
Diagnose and recommend solutions to basic automotive problems.
Interpret, understand, and apply instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Perform automotive services listed (engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, electrical, HVAC, engine performance).

Responsibilities

Maintain workplace safety as priority.
Provide diagnosis, repair, and maintenance for automotive systems.
Initiate and display Service Work Order visibly with vehicle.
Complete MPI prior to service and support 5-for-5 Customer Engagement.
Return parts and paperwork to desk and ensure proper handling of cores, batteries, and tires.
Maintain productivity targets (80–100% depending on certification).
Follow VIP quality standards and complete required training and ASE certifications.
