Job summary

Department of Children and Families seeks an Eligibility Specialist I to determine eligibility for government assistance programs and manage electronic case files. The role requires accurate data entry, interviewing applicants, and applying complex regulations.

The position may involve training, possible telework after nine months, and adherence to federal and state guidelines. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential for timely case processing and client support.

Qualifications

• Two years or more of customer service, interviewing, investigating, accounting, processing insurance policies or determining eligibility.
• Ability to attend an 8 - 12-week mandatory training course.

Responsibilities

• Interviewing applicants to obtain and verify information needed to determine eligibility for Food Assistance, Medicaid, and Cash Assistance.
• Determining program eligibility in accordance with current regulations using a computer-based eligibility system.
• Documenting all communications and contacts with clients.
• Managing an electronic caseload and ensuring timely processing within regulatory deadlines.
