Job summary

Florida Department of Children and Families is seeking an ELIGIBILITY SPECIALIST I to determine eligibility for government assistance programs, interview applicants, and process data in a state-wide eligibility system. This role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload under state regulations.

Applicants will undergo mandatory training and may be eligible for telework after the training period.

Qualifications

• Two years or more of customer service or related experience.
• Associate degree or higher required or 60 semester hours/90 quarter hours substitute.
• Ability to attend an 8–12 week mandatory training course.

Responsibilities

• Determine eligibility for Food Assistance, Medicaid, and Cash Assistance.
• Interview applicants to obtain and verify information.
• Process data in a computerized eligibility system and maintain accurate records.
• Explain benefit computations and timelines to clients.
• Meet deadlines and stay current with changing regulations.
