Job summary

Florida Department of Children and Families, Office of Economic Self-Sufficiency, is seeking an OPS Human Services Program Consultant I to support statewide eligibility operations. The role focuses on processing eligibility actions, research, and resolution of case issues within a high-volume environment.

The incumbent will work collaboratively with ESS leadership to resolve processing barriers, ensure compliance with policies, and maintain timely determinations.

Qualifications

• Experience in public assistance eligibility operations.
• Knowledge of state and federal eligibility requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
• Ability to produce clear reports and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• > Review and process eligibility case actions requiring research or additional operational attention.
• < Analyze case information to determine next steps for eligibility actions including renewals and changes.
• < Research and resolve discrepancies, system alerts, and missing information to ensure timely disposition.
• < Review cases for compliance with policies and federal/state requirements.
• < Perform case research using Department systems and available resources.
• < Identify cases approaching processing timeframes and escalate as needed.
• < Support statewide efforts to reduce pending workloads and improve timely dispositions.
• < Conduct targeted case reviews to identify recurring issues and root causes.
• < Provide technical guidance to staff on case actions and processing requirements.
• < Coordinate with regional and statewide ESS staff to resolve escalated issues.
• < Develop and maintain tracking for actions, referrals and corrective actions.
• < Prepare reports and summaries for management on eligibility operations.
• < Monitor workload to ensure timely and accurate actions.
• < Propose practical improvements to efficiency and accuracy.
