Job summary

Neighborcare Health in Seattle, WA seeks an Eligibility Specialist to help patients gain access to care by enrolling uninsured individuals in insurance programs and sliding fee options. You will verify household size, income, and residency, determine eligibility, and place patients on the sliding-fee scale where appropriate.

This on-site role partners with clinical and billing teams; strong communication, data-entry accuracy, and HIPAA compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• Obtain WAHBE training and pass certification within 3 months.
• Maintain certification with quarterly trainings and CE.
• Stay current on public insurance programs and eligibility requirements.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance.
• High school diploma or equivalent; related experience ok.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients to assess eligibility for insurance programs.
• Explain program rules in plain language.
• Gather and verify residency, household size, income, and finances.
• Assist patients with documentation and applications.
• Determine initial and renewal eligibility per policies.
• Enter data accurately and resolve eligibility questions.
• Stay informed on policy updates and training.
• Communicate coverage options clearly to patients.
• Collaborate with Front Desk and Insurance teams to identify eligible patients.
