Job summary

Neighborcare Health is seeking an Eligibility Specialist in Lake City, Seattle. The role focuses on enrolling uninsured individuals into insurance coverage and community programs to reduce financial barriers to care.

You will verify household size and income, determine eligibility for financial assistance, and place patients on sliding fee scales when appropriate. The position supports cross-functional teams to promote equitable access to care.

Qualifications

• Clear communication with patients and staff in a professional, respectful manner.
• Ability to use computers and EHR systems effectively.
• English reading/writing with basic math for eligibility calculations.
• Independent work ethic with strong organization and self-motivation.
• Reliable with punctual attendance and travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth interviews to assess eligibility for insurance programs and sliding fee discounts.
• Explain program rules, rights, and responsibilities in plain language.
• Gather and verify eligibility information including residency, income, and household size.
• Assist patients in obtaining documents and completing applications.
• Determine initial and renewal eligibility for publicly funded programs.
• Enter data accurately and follow guidelines to resolve questions.
• Maintain knowledge of health insurance programs through ongoing training.
• Explain coverage options clearly to patients.
• Collaborate with Front Desk, Contract Center, and Insurance Coordination to connect patients to eligibility services.
• Support insured patients with renewals and plan updates.
