Job summary

TK Elevator in Portland, OR is seeking an experienced Superintendent- Modernization to lead elevator modernization projects from survey to completion. You will supervise field crews, manage safety programs, and coordinate with owners, consultants, and architects to ensure on-time, profitable delivery.

Minimum qualifications include knowledge of construction and management practices and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus strong reporting and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of the construction industry and general management skills; or general business knowledge normally acquired though a Bachelor’s degree; or two years experience managing on a branch departmental level; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to write reports, contract proposals and business correspondence
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and customers
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
• Requires a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicles Report.

Responsibilities

• Supervises modernization field employees by providing direction and training, and communicating company policies, procedures and objectives
• Administers company safety program with safety audits
• Plans, directs and prioritizes elevator modernization projects and manpower needs using project management software
• Reviews job status using accounting reports to identify risk and opportunity and reports fade issues
• Manages jobsites from survey through completion, documents progress and troubleshoots with mechanics
• Manages subcontractor schedule and performance on turn-key projects
• Maintains relationships with owner, elevator consultants, and architects
• Reviews change orders, purchase orders and other approvals
• Keeps up with elevator industry codes and SOPs
• Interacts with regional operations and factory for updates
• Handles customer complaints and negotiates with local agents on issues involving union staff
• Determines materials needed and coordinates subcontracting portions
• Makes weekly crew visits to monitor safety and progress
• Performs other duties as assigned
