Job summary

Schindler in San Francisco is seeking a supervisor to manage field technicians during elevator modernization installations and site surveys. You will help prepare modernization proposals, determine scope and manpower, and ensure projects are completed on time and within profit targets.

The role demands leadership of a unionized workforce, strong communication, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent elevator-industry experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred OR 3 years of technical experience in the elevator industry or related field.
• Experience in installation and service of elevators/escalators preferred.
• Prior supervisory experience with a unionized workforce is preferred.
• Computer proficiency required. Experience in Microsoft Office suite software and SAP is preferred.
• Must have ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Manage field technicians in day-to-day operations of elevator modernization installations (hydraulic, gearless and geared).
• Participate in field surveys for modernization projects and assist in preparation of proposals and bids.
• Determine scope of work and manpower needed to complete projects timely and profitably.
• Build a team environment by leading field technicians.
• Manage training and development of field technicians on processes, tools and standards.
• Foster communication and maintain good relations with the local union.
• Ensure projects meet safety and quality standards and contractual requirements.
• Monitor job completion and drive project efficiency.
• Support sales in estimating bids and resolving customer complaints.
• Participate in professional development to enhance knowledge of Elevator Company products and procedures.
