Job summary

Schindler Group in Houston, TX seeks a Field Superintendent of Modernization to oversee elevator modernization projects and manage field technicians across multiple sites, ensuring safety, schedule adherence, quality, and cost control. You will coordinate procurement, logistics, and documentation while aligning with sales, engineering, and service teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of technical leadership experience or elevator industry experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent in relevant field.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience managing tradespeople and on-call flexibility.
• Ability to lead multi-project backlogs safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage field technicians across multiple modernization projects.
• Coordinate scheduling, procurement, and field logistics to meet deadlines.
• Track progress, labor allocation, and profitability.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, project management and service teams.
• Manage project documentation including invoicing, change orders, and forecasts.
• Maintain relationships with union representatives and staffing needs.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company standards.
• Provide coaching and training to technicians.
• Organize inspections and scheduling to optimize workflows.
• Act as primary contact for customers, vendors, and internal teams.
• Communicate with union leadership and stakeholders.
• Investigate and resolve operational challenges with customers.
