Job summary

Oakland Schools is seeking a 30 Day Paraeducator Student Support at Johnson Elementary to complement, supplement and reinforce instruction under classroom supervision.

The position reports to the Principal and runs for the 2026-2027 school year with a start date as soon as possible. The role requires strong communication, record-keeping, and the ability to work with staff, students and families.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and/or related experience.
• Good communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, principals, students and office personnel.
• Ability to work under direction of program coordinator and classroom teacher.
• Demonstrates initiative and enthusiasm.
• Ability to keep accurate records on activities with students as required by program guidelines.
• May be required to take a skills test.

Responsibilities

• Complement, supplement and reinforce students' instruction under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher in both special education and regular education classrooms.
• Work under the direction of the classroom teachers with identified children as required by the program curriculum.
• Participate in regularly scheduled in-service sessions at local and county levels.
• Attend staff meetings when requested.
• Attend to a student whose needs include routine medical procedures or assistance with regular hygiene as needed.
• Keep accurate records on activities with students as required by program guidelines.
• Perform other duties as required by the Principal or classroom teacher.
