Job summary

Huron Valley School District seeks a 30 Day Paraeducator Student Support at Country Oaks Elementary to complement and reinforce instruction under the supervision of the classroom teacher. The position is in a school setting, 32.5 hours per week, with a start date as soon as possible and reports to the Principal.

Applicants should have good communication skills, experience with elementary students, and the ability to maintain records.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills, both oral and written
• Experience working with elementary age children and/or students at risk
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships with staff, principals, students, teachers and office personnel
• Ability to work under direction of program coordinator and classroom teacher
• Evidence of initiative and enthusiasm
• Ability to keep accurate records on activities with students as required by program guidelines
• May be required to take a skills test

Responsibilities

• Complement, supplement and reinforce students' instruction under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher in both special education and regular education classrooms.
• Work under the direction of the classroom teachers with identified children as required by the program curriculum.
• Participate in regularly scheduled in-service sessions, both at the local and county level.
• Attend staff meetings when requested.
• Attend to a student whose needs include routine medical procedures or assistance with regular hygiene as needed.
• Keep accurate records on activities with students as required by program guidelines.
• Perform any other duties as required by the Principal or classroom teacher.
