Job summary

Oakland Schools is seeking a Paraeducator Student Support at Lakewood Elementary School for the 2026-27 school year. You will work 32.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, under the supervision of the classroom teacher and Building Principal, assisting with instruction and student supervision.

The role requires a High School diploma and the ability to work with diverse learners, including students with disabilities.

Qualifications

LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively; apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma and/or related experience.

Responsibilities

Complement, supplement and reinforce students' instruction under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher in both special education and regular education classrooms.
Assist with the preparation of materials, clean up after students, etc.
Assist with general supervision of the students including lunchtime, recess time, etc.
On an as needed basis para-professional employees may be required to attend to a student whose needs include routine medical procedures or assistance with regular hygiene
Other duties as assigned by the special education teacher or the building principal
Track academic or behavioral data as directed by teacher
