Job summary

Evergreen Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator for Mill Plain Elementary School in Vancouver, Washington. The position involves assisting in instructional activities for students with IEPs, providing one-on-one and small-group support under a Special Education Instructor and Building Principal.

Hours are 6.33 per day with early-release and full Wednesday design, 190 days/year. Benefits include SEBB health options, retirement plans, and paid leave; salary placement follows

Qualifications

• Basic typing/keyboard skills.
• Experience working with students in academic settings and/or SPED.
• Effective communication with students, staff, and parents.
• Ability to supervise students.
• Flexibility, initiative and cooperativeness.
• Confidential handling of sensitive information.
• Willingness to learn assistive technology.
• Willingness to learn office equipment usage.
• Ability to multitask under interruptions.

Responsibilities

• Provide special education services and supports to eligible students as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Work with students one-to-one or in small groups to meet IEP goals.
• Maintain a conducive learning environment as required by curriculum outcomes.
• Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals.
• Assist in administering tests and scoring where needed.
• Support behavioral management strategies per teacher plans.
• Organize and prepare instructional materials for lessons.
• Attend to students' basic needs and ensure safety.
