Job summary

Great Oaks Legacy Charter School in Newark, NJ seeks AmeriCorps members as Elementary AmeriCorps Tutors to support literacy and math for elementary students and foster belonging and success. You will work with teachers in ELA, math intervention, RTI programs, and lead one-to-one or small-group instruction while reporting progress and attending required onboarding and service events.

Members must complete 1,200 hours by June 17, 2027; the AmeriCorps living allowance is $14,400 for the year with

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• U.S. citizenship, U.S. national status, or lawful permanent resident status.

Responsibilities

• Support students in ELA, math intervention, WIN, RTI programs.
• Reinforce lessons through prompts, feedback, and small-group support.
• Lead math centers, fluency routines, or conferences with approved materials.
• Help students use i-Ready My Path and other tools productively.
• Build professional relationships and report safety concerns.
• Prepare materials, record attendance and progress, and attend required trainings.
