The Finishing, Dispense & Filtration Group is looking for a Electro-Mechanical Technician to join our team in Louisville, KY!
Job Summary: The Electrical/Mechanical Technician will be responsible for working with the design application and installation teams to set up FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests) and ensure proper operation prior to customer site installation. FAT sites could include Greenwood, Indiana or Gallatin, Tennessee locations. Installation sites are USA-wide.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with robotic and automated equipment.
- Troubleshoot problems utilizing electrical/mechanical knowledge with little to no support.
- Identify and mentor the team with opportunities in communication problem situations/concerns.
- Perform mechanical assembly and installation functions.
- Utilize technical resources when investigating problems or implementing new technology.
- Troubleshoot, repair and service customer equipment by diagnosing problems.
- Maintain demonstration equipment including performance test before use, document and track use by employees or customers.
- Demonstrate continued growth in mechanical, electrical, and a general understanding of equipment.
- Assemble special jobs and projects, as requested.
- Participate in product training, as required.
- Participate in product demonstrations with salespeople in our lab and in the field.
- Assist in lab clean-up and review for safety issues.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- High school graduation or equivalency; emphasis on office, shop or other skills.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working within an industrial manufacturing and/or automation environment.
- Exposure to electrical installation and wiring techniques using NFPA, NEC.
- Exposure to robotic and automated equipment.
- Proven understanding and ability to apply knowledge of electrical and mechanical schematics and layouts.
- Proven understanding of different units of measurement.
- Proven mechanical aptitude and can apply this to daily work being performed.
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time within the United States.
- Willingness to work weekends, split shifts, daily overtime, and holidays, as needed.
- Proven mechanical and electrical knowledge sufficient to diagnose and resolve basic equipment problems.
- Proven experience in disassembling equipment needing repair, diagnose problems, clean and refurbish/replace parts as needed, reassemble, and test.
- Ability to use/operate tools such as wrenches, drivers, and power tools.
- Proven experience utilizing electrical diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.
- Exposure to a minimum of 1 of the following preferred: Finishing processes and equipment, Pump and pump motor, routing and installation of tubing and piping.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Ability to understand written and oral English and be proficient with computer, email, spreadsheets and look up documents online.
- Ability to learn and use OTC's computer systems to create and maintain required records regarding equipment repair and service.
- Ability to operate forklift and a pallet jack.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job.
- Valid driver’s license with driving record acceptable to OTC insurance company.
- Must be able to work in an environment with possible paint and solvent odors present.
- Ability to work in environments that may include moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, painting chemicals and solvents, and electrical equipment.
