Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Mossville, IL, seeks a Performance/Simulation/Application Engineer to advance electrified powertrain systems for Large Mining Truck products, including diesel-electric and battery-electric configurations.

You will work on NPIs transitioning to production in the next three years, alongside senior leads. Develop and apply advanced simulation, modeling, and testing to optimize system performance, energy efficiency, and reliability, collaborating with cross-functional teams to

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
Master’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (preferred).
Experience with electrified powertrain or electric drive system development.
Experience with controls, power electronics, and motors.
Proven success leading cross-functional integration and validation activities.
Experience with high-voltage systems and safety strategies.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with customers and leadership to scope and execute projects.
Define and optimize electrified powertrain control strategies for performance, energy efficiency, thermal management, reliability, and productivity.
Develop and evaluate system efficiency improvement initiatives across electric drive systems.
Create and maintain engineering tools, performance models, and analytical frameworks for data-driven decisions.
Lead validation and verification activities to ensure system performance, reliability and readiness.
Coordinate with global engineering teams to reduce risk and ensure integration.
Mentor engineers and foster collaboration across project teams.
